Malo embraces art with “Open Secrets”, the first solo exhibition in Italy by artist Rachel Lee Hovnanian
The exhibition, inaugurated on Saturday 20th July in the Medici Palace, UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Seravezza in Versilia (Tuscany) spans ten years of work from Rachel Lee Hovnanian, a multi-faceted and multidisciplinary artist.
The artist, who has always been linked to Versilia, had recently a solo exhibition at the Leila Heller Gallery in New York. She skillfully combines painting, sculpture, interactive installations, works on paper and videoart.
“Open Secrets” is present also in our Malo Boutique in Forte dei Marmi, with NND Immersion Room, an installation presented for the first time in New York.
It’s a work consisting of a tent immersed in a wood. The idea is to represent a test of skill aimed at appreciating the nature and peace that it offers, as well as the will to remain alone, cutting off the false security that our networks, smartphones and social media promise us.
Until mid-September the boutique garden becomes the setting for a strong and totally immersive experience, as far away as we will be from our favorite devices.
With “Open Secrets” Hovnanian proposes a personal artistic research on the relationship between man and the digital era, characterized by dependence on perfection and the effects of the media on our psyche.
The exhibition highlights the pressures exerted on individuals resulting from the use of these new modes of communication, to show our perfect, interesting and cared for lives. In the pursuit of gratification, our increasingly virtual existence began to influence and obscure our relationship with reality.
